PRIVATE OBSTETRIC CARE Mr Pat O’Brien and Miss Maggie Blott work as part of a small team of consultants offering private antenatal care and delivery. They offer a range of services from single consultations to complete packages of pregnancy care that can be customised to meet your individual needs. Women who choose to have pregnancy care at the Harley Street Centre for Women have 24 hour access to a consultant obstetrician.
Mr O’Brien and Miss Blott work alongside two other highly respected consultants (Miss Katrina Erskine and Miss Friedericke Eben) to provide consultant cover around the clock. Most of your antenatal visits will be with your own consultant, and he or she will almost certainly be there to care for you during labour and to deliver your baby. However your consultant will ensure that you have an opportunity to meet all members of the consultant team at some point during your pregnancy. This is so that, in the unlikely event of your consultant being unavailable, another consultant whom you already know will be on hand.
Mr O’Brien and Miss Blott provide delivery care at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children. The Portland Hospital has an international reputation for clinical excellence and the maternity unit incorporates 5 delivery suites on a dedicated labour ward. The delivery suite also has a birthing pool and operating theatre. There is a consultant anaesthetist on the delivery suite 24 hours a day, providing epidurals and emergency cover. The wards have 30 en-suite bedrooms. The unit benefits additionally from two nurseries that offer assistance and advice in caring for your baby. Experienced medical officers (obstetrics, gynaecology and paediatrics) are in the hospital 24 hours a day. For unexpected emergencies, the maternity service is also supported by a 24 hour on call theatre team and a neonatal intensive care unit.
